hi all.

I'd love to know how to make a server for Gmod10 and Counter Strike: Source on Steam, ive got some great processing power here and i wanna share it

Ive been told my router is stopping me from making this happen though, when i make a mutliplayer game, no-one joins or can join, they get a "server is not responding" message.

I'm using a BT Voyager 2091 wireless router, can anyone help me out with this?.

Also, can someone tell me how to make a server using the Zombie Survival mod (on Gmod10) and Stalker mod (also on Gmod10)

It mentions that i need a "static IP adress" so directs me to this guide:

I follow the guide, but i get a problem, right at the end i get this message:




And then i am unable to view the internet, or even the routers webpage.

the guide does say:

"If you find that you can not pull up webpages, the problem is most likely the dns numbers you entered"

But this cannot be the case, i got the codes from the routers page, and it works fine if i just have the "obtain ip adresses automatically" checked.

can anyone please help me?. what a load of hassle!.....

Starting your own server is a tricky thing.

To start with - your screenshot shows you're trying to set an external ip address onto your local network card - this will not work and is why you're not able to load any pages. You need to give your internal IP address the same as your router - 192.168.1.x (not the exact same, just the last section needs to be different)

By Static IP, they mean you need to call your ISP and say "give me a static ip" some don't do it, some charge for it, others just give them away.

Then you need to forward the ports in your router (by following the guide you found) from that static ip address, to your internal ip address (192.168.1.x).

I know i'm just breezing over and not going into much detail - but if you need to know something just ask away

Yep you will need to Port Forward. Im quite experienced with CSS Server Administration and setting them up so i will see if i can find anything about Gmod Servers.

EDIT: OK Found some info. You will need to use HLDSUpdateTool to download all the required files for the server and set it up.
