Default Why won't Counter Strike work?

Hi i've just got the counter-strike source game and its not runing on my trusty ASUS laptop and i don't know why. Steam works fine and its all updated(which took quite a while). What happens is the counter-strike loading page appears fine and then just before the menu should appear my laptop crashes. The screen flashes blue with some white writing on it but its too fast for me to read. My laptop runs other games like Oblivion and Medieval2 so i don't understand whats wrong.
Can anyone help???

Hi Pista, welcome to the PCHF.
That Blue screen will tell us pretty mcuh exactly what we need to look at - probably drivers.

To find out what it says right click on My Computer and select Properties.

Select Advanced and Startup and Recocery Settings -> uncheck the Automatically restart box.

Next time you load CS:S...it should give you the blue screen and all the details.

Default On the right track

Thanks GaRHaR
I did what you said and sure enough i read the blue error screen and it said
"Aproblem has been detected and windows has been shut down tp prevent damage to your computer"
It also went on to say to check for BIOS updates and drivers from my manufacturer etc. It ended with

"STOP: 0X0000008E (0Xc000000, 0XBFABC1D2, 0XB8C24AE0, 0X00000000)"

"nv4_disp.dll - Address BFAB01D2 base at BFA0E000, Datestamp 4334C179"

"beginning dump of physical memory."
"Physical memory dump complete"

So i've downloaded some BIOS updates and graphics drivers from the ASUS website. Do i go ahead and install them?

nv4_disp...drivers for your garphics card

Definately go ahead and install those...don't worry about the BIOS all that much right now - that's a bit dangerous if nothing is broken. (keep that for last )
