Default Xbox to pc os?

ok this is going to probably sound jacked up but is there either a proven or probable way to hook an unformatted xbox hard drive to your computer and boot to it and use the xbox operating system to do basic stuff like check files on your computer? or is it like the xp enough that i can use it to fix the xp boot files that i accidentally erased
boot.ini
ntldr.exe... the basics...

Explination (optional read for those curious why i ask)
ok well i messed up big and tried to download an old thing of linux red hat to have fun with on my computer and had formatted hard drive and had all my personal files backed up on to an external hard drive... well i started the download to my hard drive and it started formatting the xp home partition and i dont have a recovery disk, and havent gotten a new thing of xp yet cause i dont want to give up... tried making a boot disk/ repair disk and neither worked. tried through linux to check my files and got frustrated after an hour trying to just check my files.... and i have a couple of old xbox original hard drives lying around that i was gona get around to add for a little extra memmory to my computer but i was wondering if i could use that operating system and get it to boot to my xbox os to check files or maybe repair my ntldr.exe and stuff and if it is a variant of xp....

Not going to happen mate, I'd be EXTREMELY surprised if you could get it to boot the xbox os.

When you say 'check your files' what do you mean? I may be able to help as I am fairly proficient with linux as are a few other members.

well i have linux red hat 7.0 i believe (old version) and i was told that i could just check my files by typing dev1 or something like that and i looked through and tried tons of different commands i could think of and nothing came up with a list and its all text based and im not verry good with anything text based but command prompt with xp and all i want to do is see if i can find out if i managed to save any of my windows xp that can be recovered and to check to see what other files i have on there... so if u can help me out that would be awsome
