Default [Answered] Playstation 2 files in DVD

Hello, I inserted my ps2 dvd into my dvd drive and saw 1 folder and 2 files: IMAGE folder, SLPM_662.76, and SYSTEM which its properties said its a speeddial file type. And

in the image folder were 4 folders which are labelled 3,4,5 and 6 which all have files with no extension. I discovered that those files worked with VLC media player 0.8.6b. They were all video clips but with no sound.

How do i see the clip with the sound?

I have tried windows media player 10 but it could not even play the file with the latest divx codecs installed.
I added an .avi extension to it too but no avail.

thanks in advance

Hi terror,

They are a file designed to be used with the Sony Playstation 2. The PS2 will have the codec in built...

The only player i could suggest - would be this www.mplayerhq.hu - and even then i doubt the audio would work still.

In VLC go to View -> Stream and media info, then have a look at advanced information it should give you the info you need, then look for the audio codec it uses.

You could also try installing something such as K-Lite codec pack and see if it'll play with wmp/mpc

Good luck

Well, your out of luck, theres no audio stream in those video files just confirmed it with GTA VC, there is however an audio folder but its either some strange codec or its compressed/encoded so short of looking at the headers etc to try and figure out just what exactly it is, you're out of luck

Just to add to this, there are a few different file types the ps2 uses there are also a few different utilities to decode them, you could decode the audio then sync it to the video if you really wanted, seems like a lot of work to me though

Great to hear that there is still a way!
How do I decode the audio
and then sync it to a video?
