Default Game Crashing Problem

I've recently run into this problem that every time i play a game it crashes within 5 minutes. doesn't matter what i play. Sims, Oblivion, nothing works. I never used to have this problem, in fact most of the games i play reccomend pretty high settings.

my specs:

abit KU8 mobo, AMD64 3800+, 2GB DDR 400, Radeon X800pro, Sceptre X20WG monitor at 1680x1050

i tried updating all my drivers, defragmenting my drive and looking for help online. none of this worked so i reformated my drive, reinstalled everything, updated all the drivers and i still have the same problem. does anyone know what i should do or what i should look into?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Om3rta,

Welcome to PC Help Forum.

Could you describe the crash at all,

Are you getting an error message?

Does the computer freeze up? If so can you still move the mouse cursor?

Does the computer reboot on it's own?

Is it only in games or do CPU intensive programs cause this to happen too?

Pretty well anything that converts or compresses sound or video, a benchmarking tool, or you could try CPU Burn-in. This will really push your CPU for about 5 minutes.

Also you could try downloading Motherboard Monitor (This time should work) to simply keep tabs on your boards temps.
