Default CD-RW drive not detecting games?

Ok, I just recently got the DVD version of The Longest Journey in stead of the 4 discs, which I ordered from Amazon.

Ok I pop it in...and I wait for the auto start screen...and I continue to wait...so I say "ok" and i go to My Computer and the E: drive (CD drive) doesn't have any of those nifty box art pictures on it...ok so I double click it anyways. The E: drive is completely blank. NOTHING!

Now you may be thinking (oh it's just a crappy Amazon order), NOPE, it did the same thing with a couple other games. Now, I've looked my *** off for a solution. I've chopped Google into itty bitty pieces looking for a tidbit of information that could help me, but I'm stumped.

My CD-RW drive is an ASUS CRW-4832AS.

If anyone can help me or point me to someone who can, I'd be much appreciative.

Your trying to use a DVD in a CD(-RW) drive.

You need a DVD-ROM drive but better to buy a DVD-RW because price difference is little.

If your in:

US, try: Newegg

UK, try: Ebuyer

Good luck.

Welcome to the PCHF Typheus.

otester is correct, your cd drive does not have a DVD laser in it. It is impossible for your drive to read that cd.

DVD drives are extremely cheap...normally cheaper then most computer games.
