Default Cannot see language in Korean Version

Okay...I downloaded a game that's originally a United States game...but koreans made a version of it, and i cannot even read the text on the game.. It shows in stuff like (^&^^%&%$^&) And it's annoying because the Language packs i find online never work..and going to 'Control Panel' and clicking 'regional language etc' doesn't work unless i have a Service Pack CD for this computer (which i don't have)..

I don't understand because I can go to websites and read things that are in Korean, i just want to know why i can't read it on the game i have.. help plx?

Hi Dielak,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a wonderful group here, and if it is possible, I am sure that we can help you.

First off all however, I need to know if the downloaded games are from a p2p sharing site. If so, they are not legal copies, and that may be why you cannot read them, it isn't that they are in Korean, it is a security code being triggered.

Also, what do you mean that you do not have a "Service Pak CD"? If your copy of your OS is legal, you should simply be able to do the updates through Microsoft. It is extrememly important in fact, that you keep your PC updated at all times to avoid malware taking advantage of any vulnerabilities.

Looking forward to your reply,

Well, I found the Service pack cd for Windows XP..and i have the Korean language pack installed on my computer.

I have been playing a game called 'Darkages' which has 2 versions, and American version and a Korean version.. The American version costs $10 a month to play, and the korean version is 100% free.. I'm one of the only few americans to have this game, which is completely legal. The game is a MMORPG which is an online role-playing game with different servers..I don't understand that when i play the korean version, i cannot even view the korean text, even when i have the pack installed. I can speak in english clearly, i just cannot see what others say to me, or any other options of the game.. I just would like to know what i could do to fix this problem..

thanks

Hey Dielak,

Thank you for the information, it is unfortunately necessary for us to check.

So this is an online game something like WOW? Were there special downloads for you as an English speaker to be able to play this Korean version?

Have you tried any other similar games or programs to ensure that your language packs are working correctly?

Have you tried contacting the other American players, to see if they are having similar difficulties?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN
