Hi blues,

You can still run games quite happily on USB 2.0. It's just the loading time that you may notice a drop in speed, such as BF2. At my last check, the maximum speed of a USB 2.0 SATA HDD is 40mb/s, where as an internal SATA drive at the moment supports speeds of up to 150mb/s.

EDIT: Shortly 6gb/s, but marks as answered.
