Exclamation XP doesnt even let cd run - get error...

I've just been bored lately home on christmas break from school, i was just tryn to play Soldier of Fortune (the first one) and i get this message...

16 bit Windows Subsystem

c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Winodws applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

I know my way around computers and all but i have no **** clue how to make this game work, any help and i would reaaaaaaaally apreciate it thanks!

-------------------------------------------------
EDIT

I now get the cd to run, but when the cd tries to install it gets to the little box where it says it is preparing the installshield wizard, gets to 100% then does NOTHING. ahhhhhhh

HELP

Hi xtrec, welcome to the PCHF.

There used to be a way that you can get Windows XP running 16 and lower bit software. I can't for the life of me remember what you had to change - it was a couple of system files you needed to manually edit.

It might be an idea to Google 16bit Windows XP and seeing what it returns.
