if you are looking to play games, any moderatly priced system is going to be out of date within two years. Even top end machines at the moment will be mediocre in that amount of time. If you think about it, this time two years ago. Single core cpus, 512mb
ram, 80gb HDD, nVidia 6 series, ATI were actually decent. Although those kind of specs are still decent in a workstation, gamin systems require top end components, which are continually evolving and sadlky becoming more and more expensive. If you want a future proofed gaming machine you are looking at future proofing it for a max of one year, unless you are willing to turn down the graphics and res. on the games of the future.
As for ATI being on par with nVidia, possibly even better.. well hopefully AMD will bring them out of the wilderness and they might come somewhere close to the "bang for buck" that nVidia provide. I think it would be aweosme if AMD started looking into designing motherboards and possibly bringing out say a motherboard,
CPU and graphics card combo drives, and offer them in a range of perforamce optimization levels and offer drivers that keep the entire system up-to-date in one bundle. It would also offer better support and simplfy things for beginners and people who just wants a computer that they can start playing games on straight away and not have to worry about compatibilty.
Sorry if that was a abit off track
Should be a nice system though. Have you got it yet?
