i was a pro World of warcraft gamer, played it everyday.
But 1 dayn when i started up my pc, i realized something was wrong, all programs that starts in the begining took so long. like MSN starts after like 5 mins, when it usually started directly.
When i was going to log into the world of warcraft, my pc ****ed up.

when i try to log in, i get a strange freez lagg. first nothing happends, and after a few sec, freezlagg, and after another few sec the lagg stops. this issue repeats itself a few times.. by the way, when the pc freezes, it sounds like the CPU stops working or something, then whe the lagg stop, it begins again.
After about 5 min, i get dissconected from WoW, but still the same, freez - no freez, freez, no freez ETC, to get an end of it, i have to shut off the power to the pc.. its diffrent from time to time. Sometimes i dont need to shut off the powers. when i dont need to, my network/network card seems to "crash" and i need to reboot the pc anyway.
I suspect my pc took damage from a chainstorm this summer

What i've done:
reinstalled Windows
reinstalled the game
bought a new grafic-card.
tryed other RAM-cards

My pc
AMD Althon(tm) 64 3000+
1.5 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT
motherboard Asus something

As I was reading this, the first thing i though of was spyware, but it looks like this problem was ruled out when you re-installed Windows. Did the problem start immediately after re-installing windows? Are you also using service pack 2?

Another thing that came to mind was the possibility that your CPU may be overheating. You can check your temperature with Everest Free. The maximum temperature of an AMD Athlon 64 is 70 degree's.

Well, the problem started after i installed the drivers, i think, was a week ago now.

Yes is have sp2

i checked the temerature on my cpu, no problem there, it was like on 37 c (i have a good and big fan)

Wow, that's a nice temp, I wish mine was 37!

This is the NVidia driver you should be using?
WinXP/2k 32-bit - (91.47)

You can also download NTune which will check your temp of your GPU:
NVIDIA nTune
Temperature should ideally be below 60c, but is ok up to 70°c. Your chances of a GPU crash dramatically increases after 70°c.

The possibility of a crash of your HDD doubles at 40°c and quadruples at 55°c!


Failing the above, can you follow the link on my signature "PCHF Prework", and submit and hijack and avg log here. One of the security team will make sure your PC has no malware causing this issue.

Another thing i want to ask...

What order did you install the drivers? when reinstalling windows for best performance...it should be installed in this order.
1. Chipset drivers
2. Video drivers
3. any other hardware
4. now install your software

hmm, the problem started all of a sudden, i just reinstalled windows to se if that could solve the problem.


by the way, everytime i start my pc, i get a "pop up" witch says

"You got new updates, reboot your pc"

and this comes up every singel time.
(i just klick "no")

I didn't install the drivers in that order.
