Default Oblivion shadow/lighting difficulties

I recently got back into playing Oblivion, and it is an awesome game no doubt. I have however had to put up with some strange shadowing/lighting at times. In daylight, whenever I come across any organic model, they appear to have shadowy, horizontal streaks across the face and torso mainly. I'll attatch some screenshots to help y'all out. I have tried changing just about every lighting setting to try to get every combination possible, but nothbing has worked.

Hope you geniuses can help.

Hi Milmosmic
What type of graphics card are you running? Oblivions shadows are some of the most difficult to render with video cards. The only real advice i can offer is to update your graphics card drivers. Maybe have a look around for fansites and see if they have had a similar problem.
Good luck

I've an ATI x16000 pro, 256 MB. So yeah, it's fairly recent, and I got it at a decent price. Also, I have used the search function on their forums and that gave me zilch, so I suppose all that's left to do is manually browse the tech help forum.

Dont give up all hope lol!
There was a feature on Gamespot that mentioned somthing about ATI and shadows on oblivion, but they were not a severe as yours. Really we need work out what is causing the problem, so lets wait until someone in the team with more know-how than me about graphics comes and helps you out.
By the way, have you downloaded the latest patch for the game? If not you can find it and various others Here.
Good Luck mate!
