Brief Description

The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime provides updates to 9.0c and previous versions of DirectX — the core Windows® technology that drives high-speed multimedia and games on the PC.


Overview

Microsoft DirectX is a group of technologies designed to make Windows-based computers an ideal platform for running and displaying applications rich in multimedia elements such as full-color graphics, video, 3D animation, and rich audio. DirectX includes security and performance updates, along with many new features across all technologies, which can be accessed by applications using the DirectX APIs.


Additional Information

The DirectX redist installation includes all the latest and previous released DirectX runtime. This includes the bi-monthly D3DX, XInput, and Managed DirectX components.

The DirectX runtime cannot be uninstalled.

We recommend Windows Me and Windows XP users create a "System Restore" point before installing. For information on creating a restore point, please refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles: Windows Millennium Edition: Microsoft Knowledge Base article 267951.Windows XP: Microsoft Knowledge Base article 310405.

i can't wait for DX10 and more people&games using PHYSIC's card...get on top people

Im not so sure if im gona be very happy with DX 10.. Looks like it wont be backwords compatible with DX 9 and older versions.

Only maybe some sort of compatibilty mode like XP has for older versions of windows..
