Trying to install Medal of Honour Allied assault but i keep getting this message...
Component Transfer Error
Component Sound Files
File Group Sound Files EN-UK
File D:\data3.cab
Error Data error(cyclic Redundancy Check)
Then the Install fails.

These are original discs that ive bought from ebay.
Any ideas folks ?

Hi Sleeping giant a CRC error means either the file is damaged or it couldn't be read by your cd/dvd drive. Have you tried:
- cleaning the disc/checking it for damage
- installing the game using another cd/dvd drive or computer

when you did and nothign helped you, unfortunately, got yourself a bad disc...

Will try that now. Someone else mentioned that it might be that ive played the demo and i need to delete a file from the installer log or something. Does that ring a bell ?

You allways need to uninstall the demo before you try to install the full version. Though, the demo version being the cause is hard to believe when you get a CRC error

When I bought the game I too had this problem. Have you had the MOH demo or origonal game on your computer before? If so the installation program is (or at least is on my computer) in a file called,

My computer/c/Programfiles/Installshield installation information

In that folder youll see a bunch of folders with numbers and letters.. find the MOH program and delete it. then try reinstalling MOH.

It should work. It works on my computer now anyway and I dont have half the computer you do. Good luck.

Have you enabled the 'show hidden files and folders' option in windows explorer? You can do this via extra->folder options
A warning though, when you delete the wrong folder you've got a serious problem.
when the folder isn't present it has been removed during the uninstall of the moh demo...
