Default Game installation problem

Hey there sorry if this is supposed to be in the games forum....

My problem is trying to install particular games on my new pc, my old one was windows ME and everything worked fine however when i try installing certain games on my new pc (Windows XP) i imediatley get the following error message;

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Close Ignore

(Clicking on either close or ignore cancels the instalation)

This does not happen on all my games, I have noticed it with the sims, theif and dungeon keeper 2 however games such as might and magic VII work fine.
If anyone knows what to do I'd really appreciate it thanks.

:-D Hey Royston,

Welcome back. Have you made sure that all your drivers are updated? Also, make sure that those games are compatible with XP, (they should be, but just in case,)

Can you post the versions of the games you can't install?

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

You could also try running the insallers in compatability mode (right-click/properties then click on the compatability tab). Some games that run fine in 95/98/ME just won't work in XP or are meant for DOS. You can try an emulator like DOSBOX which will work fine in most cases. Dungeon Keeper should run fine though in XP as should the Sims.
