I've got some bad news for you mate, I had that same error message and the cause was a scratched disk .

There is hope though, this worked for me. I can't gaurantee it will for you cos you might have scratched a different part to mine, but it's worth a shot anyway.

Firstly, pop CD1 into the drive, right click on the CD drive icon and press 'explore'

Copy all files on the CD, EXCEPT the 'EREG' and 'SUPPORT' folders, paste these files somewhere on your harddrive (I'd recommend a folder called 'BFV_1').

Now put CD2 or 3 into the drive, right click again and 'explore'.

Find the two folders called 'EREG' and 'SUPPORT' and copy them into the folder you put the files from CD1 into.

Now create a new CD1 with the new 'EREG' and 'SUPPORT' folders you copied from CD2 or 3, make sure you call this new CD BFV_1 otherwise it won't install!

That worked for me, but if different files on your are scratched then it may not work for you, so I suggest you have a look around in CD1 first to make sure all the other files are still OK (if the icon of a file is missing then that's a good sign that the file is broken, right click and click 'Properties' just to be sure and open all the folders and check in there)

If that doesn't work then you'll have to copy the disk off a friend or something, worse case senario, you may have to buy a new one, check on eBay or something, they have loads on there dirt cheap!
