What are the common causes of a game (Halo) crashing during play? Halo is now freezing after a minute or so of play. What could be causing the problem???

This issue could be caused by many different things.
There was a known issue with Detonators of a certain range around this time - which you either had to downgrade or upgrade them to the latest.

The freezing issue would be related to either video or chipset drivers.
If you are experiencing the same issue as Master J here, the best course of action would be to download the latest drivers from nVIDIA Geforce 8800 7950 7900 7600 GT GTX ATi Radeon x1950 x850 x1900 x1800 1600 XT Pro - Guru of 3D: PC Hardware Reviews and try them out.

same thing happened to me but all the people's armour was white. thats just ur graphics card

as far as the invisible things go it is due to your graphics card, my dads PC does the same thing, I believe the game requires Pixel Shader 2.0 or above,
i know my dads PC only had version 1.4 and his didnt work properly where mine has 3.0 and works perfectly
