I am having problems installing BF2 demo. I had it up and running in the first place then something went wrong and it wouldn't let me connect to a server. So I uninstalled it, then re-Downloaded the demo. Here is my problem now: When I double click Battefield_2_demo.exe file a box pops up saying Starting installshield wizard, it goes away, then a BF2 ad pops up (part of the game) along with another box saying Battlefield 2 demo Setup is preparing the Installshield wizard to guide...*meter goes to 100%, then POOF, installation stops, everything goes away, no error messages, nothing. Help! I want to play this game Argh :x
I can feel your pain...not being able to play this fantasic game :-(
Ok, download this: Regcleaner and remove anything it finds relating to the game. Then remove the folder in windows explorer. You should be able to re-install it after doing that.
Ok, I dwnld RegCleanr, ran it, deleting everything involving BF2 I even removed Vietnam, and 1942. Then? reDwnld bf2 demo and problem is still there. It's still poping up then going away at the beginning of installation.
Perhaps it is not getting as much RAM as it would like. Close all programs, with the exception of antivirus, firewall, etc. Also, close everything that might be using the CD-ROM drive.
Boot your computer into safe mode and do the following:
Uninstall BF2 if it is currently installed, while in windows explorer browse to the following directory:
"c:\Documents and Settings\"Your Name Here"\Local Settings\Temp"
If you do not see Local Settings then you will need to click on Tools, Folder Options, View and then click on "Show Hidden Files and folders."
Once you are in the TEMP directory delete everything in it.
Now click on Start --- RUN and type Regedit and press ENTER.
Scroll to the top were it says "My Computer", click on File? -- Export, give it a name and press SAVE.
(You have just made a backup of your registry incase anything goes wrong)
Now click on EDIT --- FIND and type battlefield.
Delete any entries that it finds. Press F3 to continue searching after it has found an entry.
It will tell you when you have reached the bottom and there is nothing left.
Once you have done this restart your computer and try to install the game.
