Default Overclocking causing PC to black screen?

So just yesterday I had started overclocking my main PC (writing this from laptop right now)
Basically, everything had been going okay (except the minor problem that if I overclocked a little too much while running FurMark it would freeze and then the ATI graphics alert would pop up saying the graphics accelerator had stopped responding and reset to default) which after it set to default it was okay again.

But since I'd been having that problem today I'd reset the overclocks to default through RivaTuner. All was fine, so I restarted the PC and this is when the problems began.

It went to restart, booted up fine went into the desktop area and then after everything had loaded up programmes on the desktop my screen just then went black. PC was still running though.

I recently just bought and installed my new graphics card this week and everything had been working great up until I started to overclock.

I'd also had the black screen/dekstop freezing on me earlier in the year and it was my motherboard that was the problem, so I've only had a new motherboard within the last 4 months.

I'm running XP and my graphics card is an ATI Radion 4670 (I think) and I think my motherboard is an ASUS PK5 premuium.

Welcome to the Forum RebelG!

Thank you for a good description of your issue... that certainly helps..'

We need two things..if you will please.

Click on the PC Specs link in my signature below and follow those instructions.. it's a good way to let any and all that are trying to help you know what system they are dealing with.

In addition, please run an HJT scan from the Prework link, also below in my sig.

We wil await the HJT log and thank you for your patience

Thanks for the quick reply, I read through the links in the signature except they seem like they are there to help if you are actually using the PC with the problem..which I'm not. So correct me if I'm wrong there, but I'd be getting the wrong information for you if I ran them on this laptop.

I do have all of the info for my PC (with the problem) So I'll C/P it for people to see..hopefully it will help.
