Default Computer not starting

Hey,

My computer has been running fine since I built it a few months ago.

However, now when I try to start it up either it doesn't power up at all and nothing happens at all or it will start, stay on for about 5/10 secs then cut out, but nothing happens on the screen.

What is causing this? PSU failing or CPU overheating/failed?

I haven't opened the case since it was built but did overclock the CPU yesterday (wont be doing that again if it is the CPU ) but it still started fine last night when it was restarted...

Thanks.

Hello Ben25! Welcome to PCHF!

We have a fantastic team of techs here as well as a very knowledgeable member community and I am sure we will be able to help you

I would hazard a guess that your issue is due to the overclocking, even if your PC did start ok last night, although I am not an expert!

I will move this to the overclocking forum and mark it as open, then your thread should get the attention it needs

Someone will be with you as soon as possible, thank you for your patience.

Regards,

Smokeycheech

Hi and welcome to the forum

Do you hear any beeps? Beeps are a good way to identify your problem. You could also try resetting your BIOS settings. Just place the 'clear CMOS' or 'reset BIOS' jumper on your motherboard (the manual will tell you where it's located) from the default position to the other 2 pins, then place it back after a few seconds/minutes. Then try booting again. Unfortunately, your overclocking settings in the BIOS will be lost.

Thanks, wasn't really sure where to put the post as I wasn't sure what the problem was.

Linux - Thanks, will try it when I find my manual and post again if it works.
