1.3 volts is still under the max intel says to use, but its fairly high for such low clocks. i used to run stable at 2.88 ghz with 1.05 volts until my mobo decided it didnt like anything over a 10% overclock no matter how much voltage you gave it. try lowering em to like 1.15 or less and if its stable you should see a 5-10C drop if not more.
or... you could always get one of those 250 cfm fans from delta and put that on the heatsink even though every other thing about the fan is terrible. (as loud if not louder than someone talking, uses 50 watts at full speed, and may suck any small animals into your computer that walk too close to it.)
also, take the side pannel off your case and do a stress test. if theres a good drop in temps, it has nothing to do with the heatsink. all you need is more airflow going through the case.

Well I've installed that Coolit Systems Domino and I must say I am very pleased with it's performance.
I was hoping to improve by maybe 10C tops but instead have gained about 15C. I've been able to go back to the 3.0Ghz OC'd setting and under full load in the same warm room am peaking at 60C tops whereas before I backed off to stock settings as I was reaching 75C at times which I felt was too much. Also I'm achieving these temps with the Coolit Systems Domino set to the middle option of Performance which keeps the fan a bit quieter than the maximum setting. At the low speed setting on a stock machine you wouldn't even hear the thing running. Installation was as straight forward as can be so all in all I would highly recommend this cooling solution for anyone concerned about temps.

If you've got room around your computer (and you don't care about looks or noise), get a box fan, remove the side panel, and put the box fan right up to the computer. That has to make a difference...

Yeah, intel processors tend to run hot.
Anyway, here are a few things that might help bring down your temps: 1) USE ARCTIC SILVER!!! This will save you 8-10C easy. I use it on my Watercooled setup, GPU, CPU, the works. On a cold day, it will run 39c under load. 2) modify your case to pull cold air right onto the CPU fan, or get a new case all together. Make sure you have enough air flow, too. 3) Watercool it, if you have the stones/cash for that. 4) cool off the room you are in. 5) get a better heatsink. Hope this helps |
