Hello Durz.

I don't see your PC specs listed other than your motherboard.

You have to set the information to display by checking a box in your user control panel.

Using software to overclock is never a good idea.

I suspect your motherboard doesn't support OC'ing the CPU you are using as a quick search indicated some issues for others.

With the limited information given all I can suggest is making sure you are using the latest BIOS available from your motherboard manufacturers site.

Hi there again, sorry the late reply i have just finished getting my pc back up and running, my RAID0 decided to die on me and i had to start fresh, ended up upgrading to Vista ultimate so meh a slight constelation prize.

I have because of this updated everything from scratch including the Bios and still i cannot change the FSB freq its stuck on 266.
diabling the dynamic oc options and all the rest still does not enable me to manually change the fsb. I have read up on a few things and my MB and CPU have boht been succesfully oc together so i am now lost for options.

Ive updated my pc specs on here and it has always been enabled for other users to see so not sure why u were not able to view them Wolf m8.

Just in case the cpu im using is a Intel Core2 duo E6600 2.4gz
MSI P965 Platinum MB

Hopefully you can sort this out, once again i apologise for the late reply and appreciate the help.

Cheers

Forgive me I haven't been too active on the forum of late and hadn't realized the new format changed the PC specs to an icon whereas I was looking for the old "My PC" text.

As for your inability to change the FSB on your E6600, though I don't use one it appears to me from what I've read at various places that it is locked which would explain your dilemma.

One thread I ran across here...... E6600 Multiplier - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

Aha! i see would really make sense, at the same time quite annoyed how they would lock the multi on them. As ive said in a previous post a little new to this OC melarky, so am i understanding that i cannot get higher than 2.44 then ? The only thing i can change is the dram freq and well when it goes any higher than 800 my system has a "benny" at me.....

Perhaps lower the x9 down to 6 and up the ram ?

Appreciate the help, as at the moment i feel very lost with this, perhaps it is time to just upgrade to i7 it was on the horizon anyways hehe

Oh one last thing, was thinking bout upgrading my gpu aswel and was wondering if my current cpu would handle a GTX295 card ?

Cheers again!

That's right 2.44 is all you get and I would be inclined to just leave it alone and run it there.

i7 would be a good way to go but it would mean upgrading your motherboard, RAM, and you'd require very good cooling if you have any intentions of OC'ing it.

Possibly upgrading the PSU too depending on what you have now.

A graphics card upgrade should not be a problem with your current setup as long as the PSU is sufficient to handle it.

I purchased that graphics card when I built this PC because at the time I thought I was going to use the GPU for computing WCG work units.

Before I even installed it I took the stock cooling off and added an Accelero S1 as I was striving for quiet and efficient cooling.

Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 VGA Cooler | silentpcreview.com

I've since then not used the GPU for crunching WCG work units as the technology is still in its infancy and I don't game so my card just idles for the most part.

I doubt those idle temps would help you much but if you need more info I could install riva and try and get it for you.
