Default Overclock gone wrong???

Hi,

About four months ago i overclocked my q6600 to 3.2ghz, just recently every now and again when i'm on my desktop or when i launch an app, my screen flickers black. Sometimes half the screen is black the rest is normal etc, so i've cleared the cmos, to restore defaults and it still does it, so i think i've wrecked my cpu

Am i wrong or am i right?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello there, when you overclocked the harware did you fit better cooling or leave the standard one that was supplied with the hardware attached?

Have you checked internal connections and that the hardware/cooler is fully seated?

Have you cleaned inside your computer lately as they can get rather dirty.

Please run this:SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer and post results please.

I have marked your thread as "Open" for you to receive further help from our Tech Team and helpfull members.

JB.

could you give us your pc specs please, ? do you have a graphics card? like Bean said it might be overheating, is 2.4 your stock speed? If so you went pretty high with the clock , but if you have sufficiant cooling (not stock) then you might be alright.....

your temps look very good ! Is that at 2.4 or 3.2? also is the flickering still happening while at 2.4 ? another thing to check is make sure you have the lastest drivers for your graphics card. I dont think the cpu is fried but i am limited when it comes to overclocking. do you have your graphics card OC too?

those temps are at 3ghz, my gfx is not oc. and drivers are the latest versions.

I've noticed now, that it only really happens when i boot the computer. Not happening as much in game.

set it to default 2.4 and reboot a couple times and see if it still does it then. if that makes a difference then your cpu is clocked to high. If it dont help at all then your cpu is fine and we have to move to another issue. when excactly does the "flickering" happen?
