Default real temp v2.7

I am wondering how accurate real temp v2.7 is as I am OCed to 3.2 on a C2Q q6600 and the temp shows as never going over say 45C is this about right with a thermalright Ultra 120 extreme? Is there a better program to use, more accurate?

Hello dollhobbs.

Realtemp is a very accurate good program for Intel CPU's.

I overclock and use it too and your temps are great.

I've got a Q9450 OC'd to 3.2Ghz and at 100% CPU load I'm reading 58C on the warmest core which is fine.

My idle temps are around 38C.

I'm using the Ultra-120 Extreme as well and frankly some variation is to be expected since much as I like Thermalright these units have surfaces that are anything but flat and require quite a bit of work for optimum performance.

I lapped for a few hours before getting tired of it and saw some improvement though I know it could be even better if I did more.

Going with the OCZ Vendetta 2 on my next build as tests have shown it to outperform the TRUE and it doesn't require lapping.

ETA: A very accurate temp reading tool is also Core Temp and if you compare the readings it gives with realtemp as I did you'll find that they are bang on as long as you make sure TJ Max is set to the same target.
