I don't know if I'd bother attempting to overclock an eMachine but trust me you'd notice a remarkable difference in speed if you increased your RAM.

As far as I'm concerned 512MB is minimum for XP with 1GB being much better and 2GB perfect.

Thanks Lonewolf nice advice.

I was thinking this was prob the only option, either that or drop kick it out the top floor and go treat myself.

I don't know what en emachine is but when I had this CPU I ran it on 3.4Ghz with no problems (using an Asus motherboard).

Not that you get any significant improvement though...

With no familiarity regarding eMachines I hope it has the ability to take more memory as it would likely be affordable and you'd notice a dramatic improvement unless of course you're running some resource hungry applications.

I've managed to bog down my dual core a time or two and that with 2GB of RAM but it's not a frequent occurrence.
