Default overclocking, cooler etc questions

okay so on impulse i bought a akasa evo 120 cpu cooler, the thing is massive and i dont know what to do!

my specs are:
amd 3800+ 2.0ghz x2 am2 940
2gb ram
evga 8600gt( i finally upgraded)
ocz 500w psu
xp sp2

so the first thing i need to know is if my cpu is even overclockable!
if anyone could help with that?

next is what do i actually do?
i mean, its flipping monstrous and there doesnt seem to be any obvious place for it to go! i dont even know if theres space in my case
so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciasted, im so excited about this i love messing around with the pc

"on impulse" is not a way to choose a CPU cooler.
I mean no offense...
but this reviewer had to remove the motherboard from his case to install it:

Akasa EVO 120 Cooler

This one had trouble fitting it:

okay i realise that it wasnt the smartest thing to do, but apparently its quite good. and i have the receipt!
so what do you suggest?
and how do i know if its overclockable?
what tool does one use to oc it?

There is an excellent Overclocking Guide on PCHF: http://www.pchelpforum.com/overclock...rclocking.html .

Keep a constant watch on your CPU temperature and take your time. Done correctly, it can take DAYS to reach your system's optimum speed. Also, the amount of adjustment(s) available in your BIOS will be a major contributing factor.

You can still install it--It's your time... I just wanted you to be aware that the thing is not the simplest install I ever saw.
Take a few "rough measurements" (tape-measure + careful eyeball) before you tear your motherboard out-- see if it looks possible...

mmmmmk, il be very careful when/if i do it. it looks more difficult than upgrading my ram!
anyway, i googled my mobo and i cant work out if its ocable.
obviously i dont want to install it and find out i cant oc it!
so this is my first problem and i must work this out first.
im not sure what to do.....
all help is great!
