Hi
I am looking to overclock my core2duo from 2.4 ghz to 2.5 ghz a very moderate overclock on stock cool which i am sure it is very capable of however when i go into the bios to oc it all the options with regards to overclocking and changing the speeds are greyed out and inaccessable i have read some posts before hand on this topic but the all are under different circumstances and therefor may not apply to me so appologies if this is a repost! My pc is a Maxdata pc i have no problems with it and never have with any of their previous machines my specs are:
Proccessor intel core2duo E6600
Ram 2 gb DDR2 667mhz
Asus P5LD2 VM/S conroe Mother board
Samsung 230gb HDD
Samsung 150gb HDD
Nvidea 8800gts 320mb
i recently tried upgrading to the newer bios version but i had to download the bios from the Maxdata website as the Asus bios is not compatable acording to the asus bios update tool!
i was also wondering if with core2duo 2.4ghz meant 2,4ghz per core and is therefor equivalent to a 4.8ghz processor?
thanks you in advance and appologies for the lengthy discription
wilf

Try this procedure...
Removing the AC power cable from the computer Open the computer chassis Remove the BIOS battery from the motherboard for 5 minutes Replace the battery and then the chassis cover Reconnect the AC power cable. Boot up the computer Go into the BIOS Set the factory default settings.

Thank you for your response gandalf unfortunatly this has not changed anything
it obviously cleared the cmos and i reset the bios to default the only thing it changed was to set my sata's to RAID which i changed back, the overclocking options are still greyed out. I will post a screen shot shortly thanks in advance wilf |

i dont know if my bios will acept it or not it is an american megatrends bios but it apears that i have a special OEM version motherboard but having checked my motherboards modal number with it's closest standard asus counterparts it apears that this line of mobo's are well known overclockers
thanks wilf |

Could you please click on this link...What's inside my PC?
After the scan is done, click on the IE Page at the top of your IE window then click on Save As... You want to save the report in the .mht format. Save the scan report to your desktop (that way it will be easier to find). Now, attached the Belarc report to your next reply. How do I attach a file? I'll tell you. To attach files to a reply, look under the Message text window, you'll see a button that says Manage Attachments. Click on the button. Now click on the browse button and browse to your desktop to select the previously saved file. This information will help identify all of your computer system. PS...joeyfine, to answer your question...you live in Ohio... of course you are crazy.
