I've moved things around a bit and have managed to decrease the temperature.

It now stands at:

Hopefully I'll get my mum to buy me another fan to go inside.

Yea.. well... I don't want it at 3GHz. 2.2 or 2.4 will do me fine.

Thanks, umm, can you take me through step by step on how to overclock then?

My mum just bought me a 120mm fan to go at the front so that should be here in a few days.

I just did a quick peek at the Overclocking Guide on this site. IMO, it does a very good job of explaining the process, though the basics may be hard to get a grip on at 1st glance. It's like a word problem in math, gotta' take out the vital information and leave the rest.

The 2nd post (by Merlin) goes through the process step-by-step. Many believe, and I won't dispute, the need to 'burn-in' the affected components with some sort of stress test after each increase/adjustment. I have done it slowly (in steps) and also have gone for broke by setting the BIOS like it needed to be for the speed I wanted. 'Slowly' is the way to go.

Your final speed will depend on lots of variables, but a limiting factor can be the range of adjustment in your particular BIOS for the 'CPU Host Frequency' or Front Side Bus (FSB). The default setting for your CPU is 200MHz, and off the top of my head I'd say a setting of 266MHz should get you into the ballpark of your target CPU clock speed with your CPU multiplier set @ 9x (max). This should also acheive a FSB speed of 1066MHz, the advertised limit for your board.

Rather than continue to re-invent the wheel, I'll defer to the Overclocking Guide on PCHF. Be sure to constantly monitor CPU temps.

In closing let me say I will disavow everything I've just said in court.

BTW, if you aren't willing and/or able to replace it, don't overclock it.
