Hello David,

Some CPUs aren't able to be overclocked from what I understand. You'll have to do some research to find out if that CPU is "locked." That is why the black edition AMD processors are so popular. They have no limit when you overclock them.

I would contact the motherboard manufacturer first to see if that error message you are getting is a known problem. You may need a BIOS update to fix it. They should be able to offer you some direction. You can go to the BIOS updates section and read what each update changes and see if that is a problem is listed. Or you can just contact their tech support directly and ask one of them on the phone.

Hope that helps!

Don't make the mastake alot of people make. Don't change the multiplier. Raise the freq. up slowy you may have to also raise the voltage up by .3 or .5 a just untill you get a steady running prossesor Caution raiseing these will raise your temp. so make sure you have a good cooling system. If you change the multiplier you may damage the prossesor. Prossesors are made then tested to see what they run reliable at but if there is a big demand for 1.6 gig prossesors even though it may run at 1.8 or 2.0 if it the same type prossesor it doesn't cost them any difference in cost. Alot of over clocking is the type of motherboard and the increments you can increase the Freq. (NOT THE MULTIPLIER)

You can raise the multiplier... Like AMD sweetspot is 11 and Intel is usually 13..(as mine is 11x310 equals a bad *** overclock @

But like others say if it is a pre-built then the BIOS is locked and no way to do it..3.5 ghz

Some motherboards require you to change a pin setting before allowing you to overclock. Have you checked your manual?

i've checked it and it didn't require a pin...

and 1 more thing, my bios can't set the cpu voltage or ram voltage... Does this affect overclocking? Should i change to a new motherboard?

Voltages are an integral part of overclocking.. though you have to be extremely careful with those..
