hello, I just added a CPU to my older computer.. I went from a pentium 4 1.5gz to a pentium 4 2.53 ghz.. The processor is underclocked and I was wonder why and how I could make it run to its fullest..

Welcome to the PCHF Robotriot.
What should your CPU really be at if not 2.53ghz? Also - what video card do you have? This can have a great impact on your CS:S performance.

my processor should be running at 2.53 but its actually running at 1.9ghz..
my graphics card its an nvidia geforce fx im pretty sure its the processor thats lagging.. would i need to update my bios [and how?] |

Oh i see what you're getting at.
It's nothing to worry about - see how that window is saying both 2.53 and 1.89? Means it can go upto 2.53 - when needed- otherwise it will stay at lower speeds to save on power.

To be honest...I'm not too sure.
Basically what should happen, is when your CPU is put under load (such as playing CS:S) the CPU will automatically ramp up in speed, and set itself to 2.53ghz, which isn't dangerous. I'm sure there should be a way to pump it up to that speed by default, but I'm not too familiar with Intel CPU's of that age group sorry. Should be a setting in the BIOS somewhere. What motherboard do you have? Perhaps the manual will tell us

ermm idk where to look for the motherboard number.. cause the bios is old and I'd like to update it..
