Default problems overclocking

i have an issue with my computer, on my Tyan trinity mainboard, I increase the FSB from 133 to 140, and it works, but when i do something like download music from a cd, it restarts the whole system. But when i take it down to 133, it works perfectly! It worked when i still had the P3 600eb in it, but not now! Does anyone have any idea why it might be doing this, and what i might do to fix it? the work i do requires a 900mhz or faster, and 866 dont cut it. thanks! (I am Using a heatsync and fan from a AMD Athlon XP +1500, 1.33ghz, so cooling shouldnt be a problem

hi me again. I tried some more things, and i think i narrowed down the problem. Maybe.... The standard FSB is 133 with the Spread Spectrum on. It works great. I take the FSB to 140/on, it works, but as soon as i do somehting that takes the power usage up, it totally freezes, and has to be manually restarted. I tried it on 138/off, and it turned on, but it didnt do anything, the screen went on standby, and i had to flash the cmos. I tried it on 150/on it started POST, but it froze partway through the 'energy star' symbol, and when i restarted it, it gave me this error- BIOS Cheksum error.... Searching for A: media..... And i have to clear the cmos to get it working again. I think it has somethign to do with the Spread Spectum, but im not sure. PLease help! The BOard revision says on boot, revision 1.06 thanks.

well ill put it plain right and simple....overclocking not only reduces the life of the hardware but causes more problems compared to the performance tweak you get

i know. this is an OLD computer, and i am planning on gettring a new one here in a few months, and i can get several P3 Processors easilty for free. Besides i happen to know that P3 Processors overclock pretty well. I doubt taking it from 866 to 910 or 975 will really hurt it that much. The motherboard Revision is G. I think I may have found 2 possible causes. 1-Two of the 3 RAM sticks are rated for 100mhz, and I currently having them running at 133 (FSB speed) so that might be why, they jsut cant handle it any higher, also, as i have OC the Video card quite a bit, (I am not concerned about it either) from 325 to 400mhz and the VRAM from 202 to 218, and added a fan to it, the PSU might not be able to take the extra load, as it is only a 350 and the VGA takes 250 at normal speed, plus ~30 watts for the CPU, and about 20 for each HDD. So if anyone thinks these mighht be the causes, letme know please.
