Default Problem adding files to Bootable DOS CD

I downloaded an MS-DOS 6.22 Bootable CD Image

I used MagicISO to merge in my additional files, and burn the CD.

Here is the puzzle:

1. I can examine the resulting (MS-DOS 6.22 + new files) CD-ROM from Windows XP - it has the new files on it.

2. With when I boot the CD-ROM, MS-DOS 6.22 boots up OK, but there is no sign of the new files.

p.s. if I get this working, I want to modify the AUTOEXEC.BAT to run an executable (I'll look for next, or I'm open to advice on how to create it) to automatically reboot the computer. (I'm trying to get it into a reboot loop for testing a hardware issue.)

in various tests, I added two copies of a DOS executable I found called REBOOT.EXE, both in the disc's root directory, and in a directory I created called REBOOT. I also modified the AUTOEXEC.BAT (with lines to run the executables), but the AUTOEXEC.BAT MS-DOS shows me is dated 05-26-99

I get these 3 lines:
PATH=
PROMPT=$P$G
COMSPEC=A:\COMMAND.COM

thanks in advance for your help, samuria!

In the autoexec.bat add
PATH=a:;a:\reboot
if when you boot into dos and type reboot or a:\reboot\reboot does it work?

What are the attributes on the new files you can see in windows are they hidden?

I would guess the problem is with the burning of the ISO. You really need nero to create it this may help

You want the files on your HD create the autoexec etc and then burn it but you need the boot loader to emulate a floppy disk. I would put a pause in the autoexec so you have to press a key to reboot.

If its a modern pc it could boot like lightening from dos so the pause would give you control a bit

oh, I tried Nero first before I got MagicISO. and I tried it again, with the link you cited. I've tried everything I can think of. I've rebuilt the .iso with the new files/directory.

I'm close to admitting defeat. but thanks, samuria!

There shouldn't be a problem if you copy all the files to the hd if you dont do that I guess its doing a multi session cd. Nero does have the emulate a floppy built in

You can solve your problem by downloading magic iso
With this you can take the original dos boot iso and simple add reboot.exe and autoexec.bat and save it as a new iso and it will then work perfectly
