Hi everyone. I was running XP and I decided to install ubuntu, to give it a try. As you know, the grub loader replaced the windows boot.ini in managing which OS to load. Everything was fine. I have two seperate hard disks and hdd0 has winxp and hdd1 has ubuntu.

Well recently I decided to reformat hdd0 and put on a fresh copy of windows. however, after installing windows, now boot.ini is controlling which OS to boot, and it is completely ignoring the fact that I have ubutnu on the 2nd hard disk.

Any ideas how I can get the Grub loader to take back control, to get things the way it was before I reinstalled windows? (without reinstalling ubuntu)

What happened was that, in the reinstall, Windows replaced the GRUB files with NTLoader, Microsoft's bootloader. You can find information on fixing this problem at the below link.
