Other OS - [Answered] mac OS on a PC? posted in the Operating Systems forums; ok my pc lost its xp in a linux upload... and i cant recover xp... and am tired of trying to recover it... i am currently on a microsoft protest ...

ok my pc lost its xp in a linux upload... and i cant recover xp... and am tired of trying to recover it... i am currently on a microsoft protest so i refuse to get vista and i want to go mac.... so i heard there is a completely legal way to run mac os on a pc computer... or is it that there is a way to run pc on a mac? if so explain if it is just a boot disk to have mac as the only program as the os and how to get it on unless like everything that steve jobs does its easy as ****... or is it an illegal application to load mac on pc

Yes. I think it is illegal to have MAC OSX on a PC, because it can't be legally bought anyway.

But it is legal to have a copy of Windows on a mac if you have purchased it using OSX Boot Camp Software.

Boot Camp is free.

Kind of, you receieve intel disks if you own a mac and in a couple of months you will be able to purchase disks.

The issue is that in the EULA it stipulates that it's only to be run on mac hardware it also states that reverse engineering is not allowed and that had to happen for the patches, so while it's not really illegal if the disks were obtained legally, it's a breach of the EULA and you will certainly get no support from apple.

Boot Camp is free.
Yes I know, what i was referring to was purchasing Windows to run it using the Boot Camp software.

It IS illegal to run OS X on a white-box PC because Apple basically has it locked into their hardware and says in the EULA "This can only be used with Apple hardware", that said, there is a huge community called the osx86 project working on getting a lot of versions to work on a white-box PC...All your hardware may not work 100% like it does in Windows or Linux, but it's certainly usable in most cases.
