Would Windows 286 recognize FreeDOS, doesn't it search for MS Dos Files?
Also, I believe the HD to be bad, I read on another site that the model installed on this laptop has been known to fail after some time. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? It's a Connor 40mb HD, that's all I know about it.

It's worth a try Zanc. I would have been very suprised if that HDD was still working. As with all moving parts, HDD's will fail eventually, and the average life of a HDD is normally between 4-6 years. Due to the constant advances in technology, it can sometimes be hard to find components a 3 years old, let alone 20. I can promise you they don't make these anymore. You may be lucky to catch somebody selling one on e-bay. Also, the older systems don't normally have BIOS as standard. If you don't then you would probably need to get an exact replacement, otherwise it will not be detected.

Thanks, I'll try to find one, if I can't then I can always buy another LTE 286, they aren't expensive.

^You'll have to try EBay, or a specialist shop if you have any in yout area.

As for freeDOS, you can try it, but it you cant be shure.
