Hi ballstine,

intel cetrino is actually the type of processor you have.

What brand/model is the laptop?

Getting wireless to work is an issue with most distributions of Linux. Even if your card is detected, theres just not as much driver support for linux, as there is for windows. You can go to your mfgs website and look for linux drivers, and have a look here for more info:
Wireless Internet - Linux Forums
Also here:
Linux Forums - Search Results
There is a program called Ndiswrapper, that lets you run Windows drivers for your card, in a Linux enviorement. There is alot of info on the sites listed above for it, or have a look here also:
Main Pag - NdisWrapper
If you are used to Windows, and new to linux, i suggest reading some of the tutorials on these forums, on installing software/drivers....ect. Maybe pick up some books on Linux, most libraries have some. Even if the book is not for your distro, most distributions are based on the same blueprint, and the basics will help.

It would actually be a laptop with a Centrino CPU that has built in Wifi. (As all new laptops).

If there is a processor (CPU) that has wifi attached to it...I would like to know why it was designed this way, a location of the designer...and a plan ticket to their location so I can slap them in the face with a large cat.
