ok i also found this 5 step procedure follow the steps and let me know if it fixed your problem

If working with a fresh install, begin with step 1 below. All others probably can skip step 1.
Step 1: yum --exclude=bind* upgrade
Step 2: yum remove bind* caching-nameserver*
Step 3: yum clean all
Step 4: yum install caching-nameserver*
This not only installs the caching-nameserver, but it also installs bind-libs and bind as dependencies. This seems to resolve the conflict, and no fix is required. However, the bind-utils package is not installed.
Step 5: yum install bind-utils

yeah yum update takes a while to do but keep us updated on the situation if something goes wrong i'll try and find another solution to your problem

Hi again. Thanks for that, it did the yum update ok.
I still need to solve the problem of not having a media player. Any suggestions?
I would like to get vlc working really so if you could help with that it would be great heres what i get when i try to install;

I copied some code from the vlc site... I think its what ur meant to do... :-)
I`m pretty sure its only not working bcos i dont know what i`m doing and i`m also not sure why this is like a link... i didnt tell it to be...
