ok i have a rlly rlly old gateway its like some ltrs 2000 that i just got out of 4 old basement rite b4 we moved a few months ago and i got it into ms once but i couldnt get it bak until yesterday around 10, and now it sez that its not got enuff mem 2 run win then i found that that comp needs a key 2 open the frikin comp and buy more mem 4 it (on startup: 640k base mem like 8420k extended or somthing lol) so does ne1 have ne suggestions?

Hi and welcome to PCHF!

First of all to extend the memory of that computer you gonna need EDO-RAM, and you're not getting that easily. It very very old and for sure not sold in computer shops. You can search internet for it anyway. I'm sorry but I'm not specialized in breaking open cases :lol:

:-D Hey Gmsdrmmrboi,

I hope you are only planning on playing with that thing and not expecting to write your term papers on it or anything. LOL

Actually I wouldn't imagine the lock would be all that difficult to break into, try something flat long and thin, like a big bobby pin, or you could always jimmy the case, you won't be able to lock it back again, but you will be able to add the RAM if you can find it.

Also you can go buy some of the compound W that freezes away worts and it will freeze the metal enough to easily turn it with a pencil eraser.

thx 4 suggestions evry1, but my dad might have the key cuz used 2 b main computer (thats pretty funny) so he prolly has it somewhere...anyway its a circular lock and that makes it even more fun cuz i cant pick it...
