Solved: Office outlook has stopped opening

2 days ago when I tried to start outlook express which I use every day it suddenly came up with an error saying it cannot open the Outlook window. Errors have been detected in the file ...Outlook.pst. Run Scanpst.exe to diagnose and repair problems.

When I search for the Outlook.pst file nothing shows up, in fact the folder that the error points me to doesn't even seem to exist.

How do I fix this, I'd love to get my emails back.

Outlook Express does not use a .pst file. Outlook does!

Did you inadvertently open Outlook (as opposed to Outlook Express)?

ooh no, I meant office outlook from the start, not outlook express- always used office outlook.

Okay - what Operating system?

Search for outlook.pst - advise where it is. Hopefully:-

c:\documents and settings\%user%\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook

Running windows xp.

Searched for outlook.pst, windows can't find it- doesn't seem to exist.

In fact I can't even find an outlook folder

Make sure you are searching for hidden files and folders.

Agreeing with Hengis go:

Start - Control Panel - Folder Options - tab View - in "Hidden files and folders" ensure the "Show hidden files and folders" is selected
