Hi, suddenly all my word documents are showing up corrupted! However if i make a new document and save it its fine. Just all existing documents!! Really need this info can anyone help. Using office 2003 and tried a repear but makes no difference.

Are those documents showing as corrupt on only 1 PC or on several? Are they stored on a local or network hard drive?

hey, they are stored locally on a laptop and I have copied them onto other computers and they all show up the same. Really strange, its not like the computer crashed or anything to cause it. I just turned it on one day and all the word docs were the same. Any that I have made since are fine though

Assuming XP but Vista okay

Try Start - Run - (enter) chkdsk /r.

Because of locked files it will tell you it can't do it until a reboot. Say Yes.

This sorts out the file allocation structures which could be causing an issue.
