| Office Software - Can't open .wks file posted in the Software forums; Can anybody figure out how to open any of the attached .WKS file (you have to unzip them first)? I could have sworn I made it years ago in MS ... |

Can't open .wks file
Can anybody figure out how to open any of the attached .WKS file (you have to unzip them first)? I could have sworn I made it years ago in MS Works but it won't open in any version of MS Works I've tried, and won't open in office either. I read that at one time Lotus 123 and Works both shared the .WKS extension but I don't think I ever had Lotus 123 in the first place. Thanks in advance. t tune |

Hello TuneGuy.
I also am not able to open those files with either MS Word or Excel. I noticed that they all have the same date, many show the same time, and the file size is small. I would have to guess that these files have been altered/corrupted, something. Sorry.

Have you tried opening them in Open Office? It's free and you can download it from here: OpenOffice.org - The Free and Open Productivity Suite

thanks, but open office gives me the same kind of gobbledygook I got with MS Works or Office. Can anybody give it a try in Lotus 123?

Okay, I'm about to give up. Just downloaded the trial version of corel office which includes Quattro Pro, which can open up Lotus 123 files (which did indeed carry the .wks extension at one time), but still no luck.
Oh well.... Thanks anyway, folks. |

It seems as though those files are corrupt
