On my normal word template I used to see the margin in blue across the top on the left and also in blue across the top right and similar in blue on the left hand edge I could see the margin in blue from the top of the page and the margin in blue for the bottom of the page.
The blue sections are OK across the top but the blue sections on the left no longer appear and the typing on the page starts right at the top and goes right to the bottom.
I presume it is something to do with page settings but I can't figure out what to do to restore the margins in blue.
I hope my description of the problem makes sense!

Close any open Office windows or applications. Search the PC (including hidden files) for "normal.dot" - delete it.

Open Word and test.

I go into Start and put in "normal.dot" in the search box having closed everything but cannot find normal.dot in order to delete it - I am obviously not looking in the right place or not doing something right.

No problem.

You need to search using the full search facility and make sure you put a check mark in the "search for hidden files" box.

I have been away for a couple of weeks and whilst I understood the theory of deleting the normal.dot to restore my Word to the previous version but was having difficulty locating it as I am not very technically minded but in the meantime someone gave me the following advice about my problem.
I followed the instructions ( the words show white space appeared when the 2 arrows appeared ) and when I clicked the Blue margin indicators on the left on the ruler reappeared which has solved the problem.

" Place your mouse cursor on the very edge of the bottom of the page, but not to the bottom part of the ruler. (There is a grey line between the bottom of the page and the bottom of the ruler - you must point to that grey line) Two arrows will appear. Click and your margin should appear."
