Default Need all Outlook folders stored?

Since I don't use Outlook I thought I'd get advice from someone expert in that field.

I have a friend whose laptop is in dire need of a reformat since he bought it used and cluttered with items that slow it down but are not required by him.

The only critical issue I have is that he has a large amount of important data in various Outlook folders so I need to move them to an external hard drive and then put them back once I've done the clean install.

Some guidance as to how to do this properly would be much appreciated as I can't afford to make a mistake and need to feel confident that the instructions I'm following are indeed correct.

TIA.............LW

Default Re: Need all Outlook folders stored?

I use Outlook so..............

Click:

File

Import & Export

Export to a File

Personal Folder File (*.pst)

Move to the top directory and save to wherever you like (include sub-folders)

This saves all of the Outlook data, but NOT the email accounts connecton data.

Restoring is then reverse the process.
