Default Office 2000 Spellchecker Problem

Hi, I am running MS 2000 with Office 2000 on an non-internet connected desktop and my problem concerns Word's Spell Checker. In a nutshell, it works only intermittently, often within the same document. When it fails to work, I receive an on-screen message which runs as follows: 'Text marked with "Do not check spelling or grammar" was skipped.' This, of course, has left me completely baffled. I hardly need to explain that I can find no indication of any such 'marked text', certainly within the Word Help files. If anyone out there can come to my assistance concerning the above mystery, I'd be exceedingly grateful. Regards Graham Knott

This MSKB seems to be the opposite of your issue. Please review thebelow. Ensure that the "Do not check spelling or grammar" option is NOT checked.

"Text marked do not check spelling or grammar was skipped." - Technology Questions

The Do not check spelling or grammar option formats the selected text so that spelling and grammar errors are ignored within the selection. Spelling and grammar errors continue to be identified in the rest of the document. The Do not check spelling or grammar formatting remains with the selected text until you remove it by highlighting the text and then clearing the Do not check spelling or grammar check box.

To set the Do not check spelling or grammar option in Word, do the following steps: 1.Select the text or paragraph you do not want Word to check.2.On the Tools menu, point to Language and then click Set Language.3.In the Language dialog box, click to select the Do not check spelling or grammar check box and then click OK.When you set the Do not check spelling or grammar option on a selected paragraph, Word may not display the following message after Word completes checking your document for spelling and grammar errors:
The spelling and grammar check is complete. Text marked with "Do not check spelling or grammar" was skipped.
