Hi,

I am using a Dell 1420 laptop with Windows Vista on it. I downloaded Microsoft Office 2007 a few months ago and everything has been running fine up until this week.

I can no longer open any Word documents by double-clicking on them. The Word window pops up, but no document shows. When I close the window, it says Word has stopped working and I can check online for the solution or close the program. If I tell it to check online for the solution, it doesn't fix anything, and if I close the program then it says something about how Word couldn't work and then closes. It also gives me these problem details:
I can open Word documents by opening up the Microsoft Word 2007 program and then clicking "Open" and selecting my file. But even after I open it that way, all it does is open up my file, but I can't click around in it. So the only way to move my cursor is by using my arrow keys. It's getting really difficult.

Also, I can't open any email Word attachments or Word attachments from other websites. I have to save all of them to my computer and then open them through the way I mentioned in my second paragraph, but since I can't use my mouse to click and move my cursor where I want it to go, it's getting really hard and inconvenient.

Thank you in advance for helping me. I tried looking online for other solutions and tried uninstalling and reinstalling all of Microsoft Office 2007 and so far nothing has worked. Someone told me to come on here because this forum has helped them out before and I hope it helps me too. Thanks!

Thanks for the diagnostic tool. I'll run it in a minute. Right now I found some updates I haven't installed onto my computer so I'm installing those right now to see maybe if that was the problem. If it works after that then I'll let you know. Otherwise I will run that diagnostic tool for you and let you know what it generates.

Unfortunately installing the updates didn't do anything. My Word still isn't working. So I ran the test and here are the results, let me know what I should do next. Thanks.

I'm not an expert on the diagnostic tool as above so try this

In Word 2007 -

Click Office Button - Word Options - Resources - Run Microsoft Office Diagnostics

I can't click on anything in Word Options (so I can't move down to Resources). I can't even use Tab or my arrow keys to move around in the window.
