Default Corrupt Word document after undelete
Hi guys
I've made the mistake of deleting my whole my documents folder (shift+delete) so it wasn't in the recycle bin. after I've seen what I've done I've managed to undelete the files with a undelete tool and everything works (jpgs, pdfs, etc) except the word documents.
it asked from where i wanted to convert the files, but I cannot manage to choose the correct mode.
I'Ve installed open office as well to see if it opens it but the same thing comes and then I just see some funny symbols. are the files corrupt? or am I doing something wrong?

Hello what was the origonal program that was used to open these files?

Right click on the file and choose open with and choose origonal software.

Do you mean you used the undelte software to convert the files to an unknown conversion?Why were you using convert why did you not use origonal software that you used to create the files?

I would use a system restore to just before you origonaly deleted the files.

They are plain microsoft office word files, I tried again with word after the undelete. but it asked me to install a converter from the office cd (I did) then it asks me if the character set is (eastern europe (iso) eastern europe (dos) arabic .... bla bla it goes on forever with the options).
then i tryed with open office and he asks me the same thing.
I just undeleted the files, didn't convert them. just recovered the directory, the jpgs and pdf's, etc work well.
I had just installed windows all over cause i bought a new Hard drive and didn't make any system restore (i think)

You need to use the undelete software you downloaded to convert back to origonal state.

the software I used was "PC Inspector File Recovery" (pretty much the first i found on google) anyways i just had the option to undelete the files i didn't changed them in any way.
I'm posting a word document from my german couse 5 years ago, i don't think it has anything personal but to tell the truth i don't remember what's inside.
maybe u can manage to open it.

I'll try to research the net a bit more to try to find a solution myself.
