Default Outlook 2003 and mail from VPN issue

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and have an issue with Outlook 2003 that I have been banging my head with since last week. MY IT person at work has tried to help but thus far no resolution. I receive mail from my office server via VPN and and my ISP through outlook. MY ISP mail still comes through but Outlook cannot connect to my email exchange server so I cannot send or receive mail from my office server through Outlook. I usually have other collegues' calendars available to me but not at this time. I am connected to our server however because I can go in and work on files. Outlook is also opening more slowly.

My IT person at the office has had me run scans etc. but nothing has worked. He also had me try and edit my email account and put in the address to the server but when I try it reverts back to the server name.

Help!!!

Hey Lovetocook,

ME TO . LOL.
My welcome to PCHF as well.

Do you know if the IT person checked your authorizations on the Exchange Server? Many times something goes wacky, and the settings are removed.

Are you getting an error message of somekind?

Do you know if there are different layers of firewall for the Exchange Server than for the VPN?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the VPN software?

Do you know if anyone else at the company is having this same problem? Perhaps the server needs to be rebooted?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

So my IT person has been MIA for a few days. To answer a couple of your questions, no one else seems to have issues logging on to the exchange server via VPN. The error message I get when Outlook tries to connect is that the exchange server is unavailable and gives me error code x8004011D.

Is there anyway I can problem solve this myself? My last response from the IT tech was to run more malware programs and a registry error program. Both of which are pretty useless to fix anything unless you subscribe. I don't mind doing that if it will fix it but it seems like throwing darts at this point.

Hi there

This would appear to be a "server-side" error and as such you can't fix it I'm afraid. What you can do however is pass this link to your IT support person: Description of the Isinteg utility

ladygreenwitch agrees: Great job Hengis!

Hey Lovetocook,

Hengis' information should help your IT person get you back onto the network. We would love to hear about your outcome. Please post back and let us know. It may help someone else with a similar situation in the future.
