Default Word 2007: Tables & multiple pages woes

In Word 2007 (when in compatibility mode for .doc files) is there anyway to:
1) Control how multiple page tables split over separate pages

For example, if Row 2 starts midway down page 1 and so split over two pages, is there any way to insert a break so it Row 2 starts on page 2.

2) Merge separate tables together

Also, I have a document, which has lots of separate tables. Each tables is contained within one page.

In between the tables are blank pages, which I just cannot seem to delete. I have tried going into the Fast (normal) view and delete the page break and paragraph symbols. However, the blank pages will not go away.

If I drag a table onto a blank page, it will jump up onto the page above it, obscuring the table that is on that page.

Any help or ideas?

Default Re: Word 2007: Tables & multiple pages woes

Hi littly-kitty - Welcome to PCHF!

Have you tried converting the documents to Word 2007 format. Maybe make a copy of the documents and convert it and see if that helps. To answer your questions in order.

1. No - in Excel you can - Word is a Word Processing program not a spreadsheet program like excel. Even though you can insert tables, it doesn't have the same capabilities as a spreadsheet program. Is there any specific reason why these tables were created in Word and not Excel?

2. No - you can try delete all the lines separating the 2 tables until they look like one, except you will have a darker border where they meet. I would copy the data and paste it into Excel. Then you can make it one table.

And for your last query - if you do what i suggested in step 2 you won't have this problem. Please let me know if you have any queries.
