I'm a complete beginner when it comes to computers and software and I have a sneaking suspicion that the answer to this question is going to be ridiculously simple but here it goes.

How do I paste a simple list of text into a table or even into excel? What I'm specifically trying to do is paste a long list a karaoke songs with there codes so I can put the songs in order, which makes it easier for people to pick there favorite song and in turn (because of the codes) makes it easier for me to find it.

Here is a partial example of the list;

The easiest is to paste the list into Excel. Then in cell B1 type: =left(a1,7)
This will copy the first 7 characters (song number) into this column. Copy the formula all the way down.

After you have done this - highlight column B (just click the B up the top) Press CTRL+C to copy it. Right Click column C - select Paste special > Select Values > Click OK. Delete column B. Now you have the song numbers as an actual value instead of formula.

To remove the song number from the start of the song name - highlight column A > Click Edit > Replace
In find what type: SF***** (put one space after the last *)
Leave Replace blank. Click Find Next > Click Replace All.

You can now sort the list by song name or number.
