Hi and welcome to PC Help Forum

You can have it open at the same time like this:

With Inbox open, right-click the Calendar shortcut on the Outlook Bar, and then click Open in New Window on the shortcut menu.

Did you try View > To Do Bar - then expand it?

When you want get new features for any app --search with Google
here's an add-on that should do what you want:

AutoCal for Outlook 2003 download and review - quickly add new calendar entries to Outlook from SnapFiles
